Seasonal Update

What's happening in the Treasure Valley right now

November 6, 2026. The Treasure Valley is in a fall bonus round: sunny skies, highs in the mid-60s through Veterans Day, and no snow on the valley floor yet. The Boise Farmers Market opens its first winter market at its new permanent home, the Idaho Botanical Garden, tomorrow, November 7, the Holiday Makers Market fills the Nampa Civic Center this weekend, and Middleton's own Author Palooza brings 60-plus local authors to the Community Center on Saturday. Veterans Day lands midweek, Winter Wonderland opens in Caldwell on November 20, and Bogus Basin's projected opening lands November 28.

The Season Ahead

A fall bonus round: sunny, mild, snow-free

This is the hinge of the season, and the Treasure Valley is delivering one of November's best stretches. The cottonwoods along the Boise River and the rural roads stand bare against the low autumn sun, the fields around Middleton are stubble-brown and frost-dusted at sunrise, and the Owyhee foothills are catching their first dustings of snow on the peaks while the valley floor stays clear. Afternoon highs have been running in the mid-60s through the first week of November, well above normal, with clear skies and barely a chance of rain. Overnight lows sit in the upper 30s and low 40s now and slide toward the upper 20s by Thanksgiving, and the first measurable valley snow typically waits until mid-to-late November. Woodsmoke mornings, golden-hour drives, football under the lights: this is early November in Middleton.

What to Do

The fall bonus round and the season ahead

The calendar has turned to November and the season's rituals are shifting from harvest finale to cozy season. The winter market opens tomorrow at the Idaho Botanical Garden, the Holiday Makers Market fills the Nampa Civic Center this weekend, Middleton's Author Palooza brings the town's own book fair to the Community Center on Saturday, and the first snow on the valley floor is still a few weeks out on average. Here's what to do between now and Thanksgiving.

Winter Market Opening Day

The Boise Farmers Market opens its first winter market at its new permanent home, the Idaho Botanical Garden, tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, 9 am-1 pm, running Saturdays through December 19. More than 70 vendors set up, with 40-plus under a covered, heated area: winter squash, root vegetables, local meats, eggs, cheese, roasted coffee, and baked goods, with SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks accepted. The local food scene just got a warm, year-round anchor.

Holiday Makers Market in Nampa

The Holiday Makers Market fills the Nampa Civic Center tonight, Friday, November 6, 5-9 pm, and tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, 9 am-4 pm, with 100-plus local artisans selling handmade ornaments, jewelry, pottery, and more. Free to attend, it is the perfect early start to holiday shopping, about 15 minutes from Middleton.

Middleton Author Palooza

Middleton's own book fair returns Saturday, November 7, 11 am-3 pm at the Middleton Community Center, 113 W Main St. The 5th annual Author Palooza is free, with 60-plus local authors, bookish vendors, food trucks, and kids' crafts. A warm, community-first way to spend a November Saturday right in downtown Middleton.

Veterans Day and the Idaho Veterans Day Parade

Veterans Day lands midweek on Wednesday, November 11, a school holiday across the Middleton School District. The weekend after, the Idaho Veterans Day Parade, the state's largest, marches down Capitol Boulevard in downtown Boise on Saturday, November 14, 10 am-noon, with opening ceremonies on the Capitol steps. And this Saturday, the Warhawk Veterans Breakfast marks its 23rd year at Nampa's Warhawk Air Museum, 8 am-noon.

Lake Lowell's Waterfowl Migration Peaks

Motorized boating on Lake Lowell closed September 30, and the water now belongs to the fall migration. The goose count on the lake climbs toward thousands through November, with big dawn and dusk feeding flights over Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge. Shore fishing for bass, crappie, and perch stays good through the month, the walking trails are quiet, and the first snow may dust the Owyhees behind the lake before the month is out.

The Pre-Winter Hikes of the Year

November is one of the best hiking months in the Treasure Valley, and this year's mild, sunny stretch makes it even better. The Boise River Greenbelt, Jump Creek, Table Rock, and Hull's Gulch have settled into a quiet brown-and-amber palette, and the first snows of the season may dust the foothill peaks above the trails, which makes the views even better. Layer up and go early.

Winter Skate Opens in Meridian

The outdoor ice rink at The Village at Meridian opens Saturday, November 14, and runs through January 19. Skating under the lights with the holiday season taking shape is a Treasure Valley tradition, and it is about 25 minutes from Middleton. Rentals are available on site.

Football Under the Lights

Boise State is home for two big ones in this window: Saturday, November 14 at 4 pm against Oregon State, then Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 pm against San Diego State, both at Albertsons Stadium about 25 minutes from Middleton. Closer to home, Middleton High School football packs the stands on Friday nights as the postseason picture takes shape.

The Season Ahead: Thanksgiving and First Lights

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, and the Boise Turkey Day 5K at Cecil D. Andrus Park is the classic way to start it, with a companion 5K at Memorial Park in Caldwell. Just before the holiday, the season switches on: Caldwell's Winter Wonderland opens at Indian Creek Plaza on Friday, November 20 with the ice rink and a million lights, Lost in Christmas lights up Shindig Farms November 20-21, the Canyon County Christmas Show fills the Ford Idaho Center November 20-22, the Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees opens at Boise Centre November 24-29, and Bogus Basin's projected opening lands November 28. Then Light Up Middleton's tree lighting in downtown Middleton follows on December 5. Start making the list now.

Eat & Drink

Where to eat this month

The Treasure Valley's table has turned fully to cozy season. The Boise Farmers Market opens its first winter market at its new permanent home, the Idaho Botanical Garden, tomorrow, November 7, with more than 70 vendors under cover: winter squash, root vegetables, local meats, eggs, cheese, roasted coffee, and baked goods, running every Saturday through December 19. The Nampa Farmers Market shifts to winter hours, 10 am-2 pm at Lloyd Square Park, with the season's final day, Santa Saturday, on November 28. The orchard stands have poured the last of the season's cider, the Sunnyslope tasting rooms are cozy for harvest-release pours, the mild sunny days are perfect for patio lunches before the real cold arrives, and Thanksgiving reservations and pre-order menus are filling fast across the valley. Here's where Michelle is eating and drinking well right now.

Market Update

Real estate in the first week of November

The market is in its classic pre-holiday groove, and this year's fall bonus round of mild, sunny days is keeping buyers out in force. The school year is in full session, the mid-60s afternoons are ideal for touring neighborhoods, and buyers are touring homes with serious intent before the holidays take over. New construction keeps delivering fresh options across Middleton's newest neighborhoods, and sellers who want to close before Thanksgiving are often willing to negotiate, which keeps real opportunity on the table for buyers. With Veterans Day midweek and the calendar rolling toward the holidays, the next several weeks are frequently the smartest window of the year to make a move.

Trend

Steady

For buyers: The stretch between now and Thanksgiving is one of the best times of the year to buy in Middleton. The mild, sunny November days are still ideal for touring neighborhoods, inventory gives you room to compare options, and competition is lighter than in spring. Take your time and work with an agent who knows the local market.

For sellers: Well-priced homes in good condition still sell well into the fall, but buyers get picky as the holidays near, so presentation matters more than ever. Homes positioned and priced correctly move, while overpriced listings sit through the slow months. Contact Michelle for a free, no-obligation home valuation plan before the holiday season.

Michelle's Pick This Month

“Spend Saturday morning at the Boise Farmers Market's winter market opening at its new Idaho Botanical Garden home, then swing by Middleton's own Author Palooza at the Community Center. Shop the Holiday Makers Market in Nampa tonight and tomorrow, mark November 14 for the Idaho Veterans Day Parade and Boise State's afternoon kickoff against Oregon State, and put November 20 on the calendar for Winter Wonderland's opening night at Indian Creek Plaza. Then start planning the Thanksgiving table, because the valley is turning toward winter.”
